In a row of Victorian houses this 4.5 m wide timber workers cottage presented many challenges. The most difficult of which was to create a sense of space and light to allow for modern habitation. The brief consisted of a main house with two bedrooms and open free flowing living/kitchen and dining spaces. The master bedroom, dressing and en-suite were all contained on the first floor with sun deck set away from the heritage streetscape. At the rear a new two-storey pavilion provided guest accommodation and car parking. To our delight the client engaged us to assist with furnishing and décor and this provides a sense of coherence and exclusivity throughout the finished project. This level of refined detail is rarely seen in such a small residential project.
