project overview

A heritage Victorian façade was the only built element that remained with this East Melbourne infill project. The client, Interior Designer Liz Hall, wanted to merge the old and new with a Parisian apartment flavour. We sought to avoid the feeling of transitioning through a heritage space into a contemporary modern extension.

The rear contemporary, concrete pool house sensitively juxtaposes the classical residential architectural language of the main building which has been designed around a large sky glazed oculus.

We had loved what Nick had created for our previous place, so my husband, Gavin, and I had no doubt he was the perfect choice for our ‘forever’ home. I had a clear vision for the renovation and I knew Nick would be able to help achieve it. He has an exceptional ability to work with light and form and his depth of experience gives rise to innovative solutions to design challenges.

Working with Nick on this project was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. He was responsive, generous with his time and happy to provide his advice when sought. Gavin and I are delighted with the outcome and we can’t thank Nick enough.
